Meta quietly launches Style Sketch, an AI fashion app
Meta quietly launched Style Sketch, an AI fashion app live in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand that builds a virtual closet from Instagram photos and suggests outfits.

Why it matters
- Meta launched Style Sketch, an AI fashion app, in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand on iOS and Android
- The app builds a virtual closet from users' Instagram photos or manual uploads
- Style Sketch offers virtual try-on on a model matched to the user's body shape and skin tone
- Matt Navarra first spotted the app; Meta did not respond to a request for comment
- The launch follows WSJ reporting that Zuckerberg told employees Meta plans to ship far more apps
Meta has quietly launched Style Sketch, an AI fashion app that builds a virtual closet from users' Instagram photos and suggests outfits from clothes they already own. The app is available now in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand on both iOS and Android, with no announced date for a wider release.
Social media consultant Matt Navarra first spotted the app. Meta did not respond to TechCrunch's request for comment, and it remains unknown whether the company plans to launch Style Sketch more broadly.
What does the app actually do?
Style Sketch connects to Instagram to assemble a digital wardrobe from photos a user has already posted. Users can also add items manually by snapping a photo, recording a short video, or uploading images from their camera roll.
Once the closet is built, the app suggests outfit combinations drawn from the user's own wardrobe, matched to their personal style. The suggestions are not limited to random recommendations: users can select one specific item and receive fresh outfit ideas built around it, according to the app description.
The app also includes a virtual try-on feature. Users can preview outfits on a "realistic model matched to your body shape and skin tone," the app description reads.
Style Sketch extends beyond daily outfit suggestions. If a user enters a destination, trip length, and planned activities, the app generates a day-by-day outfit plan that accounts for the weather forecast and the itinerary. That positions the tool for travel packing as well as everyday dressing.
Why does this market matter?
Meta is entering a crowded category. Several apps already use AI to help users digitize their wardrobes and visualize new outfits, including the startup Alta. Google Photos also offers tools that let users turn photos of their clothes into digital closets where they can create new outfit ideas.
Against that competition, the novelty of the concept will not carry the app. Meta's likely advantage is integration with Instagram, where users already maintain a visual record of their personal style. Because Style Sketch can pull wardrobe items directly from posted photos, it removes the manual cataloging work that competing apps require, and it taps into an archive of style data Meta already owns.
The three-country launch in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand follows a pattern common among large platforms: test in smaller markets, iterate, and scale if retention holds. Meta has not disclosed user numbers, download figures, or monetization plans for the app.
How does Style Sketch fit Meta's broader app push?
Style Sketch is one of many AI apps Meta has shipped in recent months. Most recently, the company launched Waddle World, which resembles a Tamagotchi clone with AI at its core. Meta has also released Pocket, a tool for vibe-coding games, and Vibes, an app that lets users quickly generate AI-powered videos.
The wave of releases reflects a deliberate strategy. The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this year that CEO Mark Zuckerberg told employees the company plans to release far more apps than it has historically, because AI-driven efficiencies have made it faster and easier to ship new apps. Style Sketch, with its wardrobe digitization and virtual try-on pipeline, is a direct product of that approach: a narrow, AI-dependent utility that would have required far more development effort before current model capabilities.
For the AI fashion sector, Meta's entry raises the competitive stakes. Google and startups like Alta have validated demand for wardrobe digitization and outfit visualization; Meta's Instagram data advantage gives it a distribution and input source those rivals cannot match. Whether Style Sketch leaves its three launch markets will signal how serious Meta is about consumer AI utilities beyond its core Facebook and Instagram apps.
